I am and always have been a sucker for shimmer eyeshadows, so today I look the plunge and resisted the beautiful metallic shine and opted for a simple, sophicasticated all matte cat eye look, which is super easy to create!
To begin with, I grabbed some sticky tape to create a perfect, sleek, clean line at the end of the eyeshadow look. I joined the tape from the bottom of my brows to the outer corner of my lower lash line; be sure to pop the tape under your lower lashes.
Next, I began defining my brows to really sculpt my face. Firstly, I took the clear wax in the Smashbox #SHAPEMATTERS Palette and patted that all over my brows with my finger to ensure there are no fly aways. Next, I used the No7 Beautiful Eyebrow Sculpting pencil in the shade 'brown' to outline and define the natural shape of my brows. Finally, using the brow end of the double ended Smashbox brush that comes with the palette, I applied a small amount of the 'soft brown' shade to fill in the remaining part of my eyebrows.
To sculpt my brows, I used a silicone brow brush with some Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'fair' to define and highlight the shape of my brows.
To set my brows in place and add more depth and fullness, I used the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara in 'medium brown', and brushed them following the natural direction in which my brows grow.
Moving onto my eyes, I began by priming them and getting rid of an discolouration using the same Collection concealer used above and tapped that with my finger across my entire lid. To set the concealer, I used the 'vanilla' shade in the same Smashbox palette and applied it to the whole lid using the other end of the Smashbox brush.
To begin the 'cat eye' look, I used the shade 'password' out of the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, on a pencil brush and began defining a line across the tape of the outer edges of my eye. I then dragged the shade across the upper lash line working it into the middle of my eye and blending it out to give a super soft look.
Next, I took the shade 'sumatra' from the Smashbox palette on a fluffy blending brush and began smoking out the grey with the deep brown. I was going for a super soft smoked out look so just blend blend blend. To add some definition to my crease, I also dragged some of the brown shade and blended it all together.
Finally, to add some depth to the cat eye, I took the shade 'blackout' on a pencil brush and again began defining the line across the tape on the outer edge of my eye, and blended everything together.
Next, once you have gently removed the tape and wiped any excess fallout away, take any liquid eyeliner, I personally love the L'Oreal Super Liner in the shade 'black', and begin creating your 'cat eye' winged liner. To do this, begin by drawing a straight line from the bottom of the outer lower lash line, following the line created up towards to the bottom of the brow with the tape. Next, create a thin line from the inner lash line to the middle of the eye. Then you want to drag the line back from the flick off the outer edge of your eye and join it up with the line created on the inner part of your lash line. Finish the look by filling the rest of the line in!
For mascara, I used my beloved L'Oreal Telescopic mascara and coated my upper and lower lashes.
In some of the shots above, I am wearing no lashes, just mascara, however to show you how the look looks with lashes as well, I took the Eylure Definition No 121 falsies to intensify the cat eye and add some fullness and fluffiness to the outer edges of my eyes.
For all the products used on my face, see my FESTIVE CHRISTMAS GLAM//MAKEUP post.
Finally, to complete the look, I begun with the Rimmel 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in the shade 'spice' and began outlining and defining the natural shape of my lips. I then took the MAC Matte Lipstick in the shade 'kinda sexy'.
