Oh my gosh, this palette.
Smashbox have well and truly hit the nail on the head with this one! I was a very lucky girl to recieve this Smashbox #SHAPEMATTERS Palette as an out of the blue gift from my boyfriend (top marks lol), and have fallen in love with it since the moment I opened it. It was one of them moments yanoe when you lift the lid up and it goes all bright as if the heavens have opened with an ahhhh? Yeah it was one of them lol.
The brand new palette comes with three sections for your face, eyes and brows. It contains '9 award winning Photo Op Eyeshadows, 3 Contour Powders for most skin tones, 1 Highlighter, 2 best selling Brow Tech Powders, 1 Brow Tech Wax, 1 double ended Shadow/Brow Brush and 1 full size mirror.' As well as all of this, Smashbox have also included 3 Interactive Get the Look Cards that you can activate simply by touching the cards to your phone. With these, you can recieve contouring tips for your face, eyes and brows and much more!
I used this palette for my entire face apart from my foundation routine which you can find over on my NIGHT GLAM//MAKEUP post.
So now that my base of my makeup is done, I began my favourite part - the contour and highlighting. Firstly, I took the contour shade on the palette (top left in the square of four powders) and began to define my cheekbones in a sweeping motion from my ear to my mouth in a line and blended it out. I then defined my nose by applying two thin lines down each side - the best nose job without the surgery. Next, I applied the bronze shade (top right) above where I had just contoured on my cheekbones, around my forehead and my jawline to warm up my face. Using the highlight shade (bottom left), I placed that with my brush on the middle of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, on my chin and under my eyes, followed by a shimmer highlighter (bottom right) on the top of my cheekbones, cupids bow and below the arch of my brow.
Now that my face is done, I moved onto my brows - they are sisters not twins lol. To emphasise my natural shape, I brushed my brows in an upwards motion with a spoolie brush. I then grabbed the slanted brow end of the brush that comes included with the palette and took a bit of the Taupe colour and began defining my brows. I was going for a more of a natural and wispy look today, so I focused on enhancing my natural shape.
For my eyes, I first applied a little of my Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 1 to my lid to prime my eyes before the eyeshadow and set that with the highlight powder (bottom left). I then took the shade Vanilla and blended that across my entire lid. For my crease, I started off by taking the shade Totally Nude and blended that out as the perfect transition colour. Next, I used the Champagne shade on top of that pinky colour in my crease followed by the shade Posh to give a bit of shimmer to break up the soon to come 'matte' lid. I then grabbed the intimidating but incredibly pigmented shade Aubergine and applied that directly across my whole lid - don't be alarmed of how it looks as soon as you have applied it, just blend blend blend to bring everything together! I then went back to the three shades that I used in my crease and applied a little more of them colours back in my crease to create an ombre look.
To finish off the eyes, I coated my lashes with my L'Oreal Paris False Lash Telescopic mascara before applying my Kiss True Volume Lashes in Ritzy. For my bottom lash line, I placed the shad Aubergine on the outer edges of my eyes and transitioned into the shades Posh then Champagne until I had reached the inner corners of my eyes. Once applying a few layers of mascara to my bottom lashes, the eyes were complete!
I paired the autumnal eyes with a dark, bold and vibrant purple lip using the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in the shade 380 - Dark Night Water Loops.
